Why can’t you just take collagen?

When people learn that I have EDS and that I lack the needed collagen to hold my joints together, they ask if I have tried taking collagen or bone broth.

Unfortunately, the lack of collagen is part of my DNA. I can take it, but it won’t fix or improve my EDS. I can take a supplement just like anyone else, they can provide daily support, but they can’t repair of fix the genetic structure.

Taking collagen doesn’t mean that it goes directly to my joints. Think of your DNA as a blueprint, mine doesn’t have all the instructions for a complete build. When we take collagen, it breaks down into amino acids. The body uses that to build new connective tissue. For me, it still follows the faulty blueprint.
